When someone asks a question that doesnt mesh with your beliefs is it automatically thought that the person asking is attacking your belief or the religion?
Can a person really not just ask questions here or what?

Some people have thin skin. I don't see a problem in asking almost any question unless your asking in malice. But that said unless it's blatantly obvious that the person is just asking a jerkish question I'm sure not going to sit in judgment. That said it does at time appear that certain people who have found religion act aloof or superior. Just remember this is opposite of the way they should act - Humble.

Ask away, each question is answered as each person sees it being asked. And don't give that ole, simple question stuff.
Obviously you can read and therefore see how and why certain questions are asked.

Most start with an assumption, and on that assumption then a leading question is asked, so the answerer must first answer the assumption and then the actual question. Ask a simple straight forward question and get a simple straight forward answer. BUT, assume that I am a homophobe, or intolerant, or a fundie, or, Bible Thumper, or a rightwing religious nut and my answer will be somewhat different.

I'm sorry I disagree to a point, I read your answer to another question on religious music that brought me here. I do not get offended when someone does not believe the way I do. I get offended when someone attacks me for believing. No place here (you can check my questions and answers) have I ever attacked someone for not believing the way I do. Nor have I ever tried to push my belief on someone else. The particular question I am talking about attacks religion in general. I am a Christian. I am not attacking anyone else because they are not. I have been put in several hateful, awful, discriminated against, molds that others put all religious people in. That puts me on the defense. Noone here on Yahoo Answers knows me personally. I just do not feel like anyone should put anyone in a mold. Regardless of what I believe...The particular questions I answer and acknowledge dealing with religion ARE attacks, if you will go back and look. It called religious or Christian people out by name...How else would one regard that type of question other than an attack?

I'm not sure of the context, but as a believer we do get "attacked" frequently. So please understand, without the benefit of context or intonnation, it's hard to know the spirit in which a question is aked. My apologies for all Christians if you were treated harshly or unfairly.

Deke stole my answer..... so i shall steal his goats!!!

Through my personal experience i've learned that their immediate defensive stance shows the true weakness in their beliefs. Think about it this way..... If someone accused you of something that never happened..... you'd be upset & you'd feel the need to be defensive....... it's along those same lines........ you question them about the non-existance of their god & they get defensive because deep down they know it doesn't make sense but they feel if they play the "stop persecuting me" card it'll make people think "Wow, their delusion must be real if they're being persecuted for it!" when the reality is ...... nobody is persecuting them at all. They're all a bunch of crackheads...... I'm not sure I made any sense..... but i dont' care..........Off to deke's goats!

As long as the question is posed as a sincere question. But it is an attack when the question is written to offend in the first place.

There is a distinct difference between

"I believe in once saved always saved, do you?"

and...

"If I beleive in once saved always saved does that mean I can rape and pillage to my hearts content?"

If you can't see that difference, then I don't know what to tell you.
