I had a South Korean product called iRiver. 40GB hard drive with the ability to play music, show photos, read text files, and even small highly-compressed video files. It came with all the extras that I could ever need (even a small external microphone, and a batter pack that accepts 4 regular 1.5V batteries and serves as a battery-powered charger, and a nice case for carrying it around).

The thing has cost me something like 1/4 the price of a comparable iPod in Japan. I was also happy that it did not require any proprietary software for music management and upload in order to work. Just plug it and play it.

Hates IPods....over priced and not real functional. I've had an IRiver - just as big of hard drive, with video, and FM, and half as much money

Creative Zen.

That's 'Creative' not 'Creation'.
