If so who exactly?

I feel this is a legitimate question for R&S because there is so much religious rhetoric about ex-gays and sexual orientation being a choice.

Father K, I think you are talking about the syndrome Bad Squirrel mentions where a person living in a hostile community who has been forced to hide their homosexuality, tries very hard to fit into the straight mold, marriage , kids etc and too late finds it's impossible.

My family knew someone who "turned" gay -- he was our parents best friend both before and after. But, he said that he always had homosexual feelings -- and most of us couldn't help but notice that his homosexual relationship was far better than the heterosexual marriage he had before a divorce.

I think humans are capable of masterful deception when society puts undue expectations on them. But I think that's all it is.

Yes it is a choice--at a church I heard one man testify of how he had taken pills lived with his practiced female voice and on and on-now he is living for Jesus married and has 3 children-so if the theory we are born gay or straight is in tact -he is now an x gay or an x straight that went gay and is straight again.

All of this only goes to show that we are living in the time that Bible writers foresaw. "But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthank-ful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God." 2 Timothy 3:1-4. The rise in homosexuals' popularity and acceptance indicates that the people of this world are moving further and further from God.

In light of current events, we might wonder how far things will digress. Certainly, in all this confusion there is a call to seek God. While we should love sinners and help them find peace and eternal salvation through faith in Jesus Christ, we must not fall prey to the falsehoods of homosexual activists. The Bible clearly defines homosexuality as sin. Let's compassionately lead homosexuals into a saving relationship with Jesus while steadfastly maintaining the truths of God's Word.

It is possible. on the other hands the bible says "Adulterers, Homosexuals and such WERE Some of you but you have been cleansed by the blood of Jesus." there are genuine gays that have turned permanently straight.

Permanent is kind of a long time. That's like forever, or something. I do not believe anyone that would say they were or did. People like Rosie O'Donnell would say she was but the truth be known she was tired of all the marks on her body from guys poking her with 10 foot poles.

Still homosexuality is a choice that a person makes at some stage in their life.

what has happyness being gay to do with being straight
you know religious people detest having gays push the poor me barrow
god gave gays a gift of life
gays dont breed ,thus refuse to give others the gift of life,

thats why they get upest with gays [plus they are allways saying im gay so all the other gays find the other gays because they try picking each other up any where

oh please your gay dont you have a gay bar some where
just mentioning your gay is a pick up line
go get blasphemmed some where else
its not as if any genuine gay dosnt seek a pick up anywhere
using any poor me excuse then the conversation is about how oppressed poor you bath are
what is it some badge of dishonour to convert a straight christian kid ,to your idea of heaven
kids read this
gays go to hell live with your choice like a man

I think that would be difficult to answer. Anyone who "became" gay would say they were never genuinely straight to start with.

But there are those who gave into the temptation of homosexuality, and pursued the homosexual lifestyle...and have now turned to celibacy or heterosexuality. There is a group called Courage and they turn to Christ for inner chastity and come away from the perversion of homosexuality.

No person can be defined according to their sexuality, that is just part of what it is being human.
That being said, no one is gay since everyone is either male or female, to accept that is part of being a mature human person.
People can chose to go against reason and sin people can also chose to accept the will of God as written down in nature itself.

Sure. Too many to count. I've seen a number of heterosexual marriages broken up - even after kids were born - over this very issue.

2007-04-23 09:43:53 · answer #7 · answered by Anonymous · 2 3

I don't see how that could be possible.

People are born with their sexual orientation intact. You're either born gay, or born heterosexual. Sexuality is handed to you before birth right along with hair and eye color. Society and upbringing won't "turn" you straight or gay.

You are either Gay or your not. You are born who you are. You can fight your feelings, and live a lie, but you are who you are.
