Religion is a formalized method of being holy or spiritual in a somewhat uniformed manner.
By this I mean eveyrone is roted into rituals and those rituals vary from religion to religion.
They know when to stand, sit, kneel on cue.
They know when to bow, make the sign of a cross, light a candle.
It can be equated to various writing styles, such as the Chicago Manual of Style which varies from other Style formats.
So religion is basically knowing the SET ways of the Altar or Temple.
It's knowing the secret handshakes.

Religion is a set of ideas based on the belief of things unseen controlling the universe. It speads in much the same way as other communicable human disease, through contact with someone or something that has been infected.
Fun Fact: There were no known cases of christianity in Native Americans until infected Europeans came into contact with them. In time, the disease, along with others brought by christians, wiped out the Native population.

Religion:
religion - Code of beliefs and practices formulated in response to a spiritual awareness of existence. It may involve either faith in a state of existence after earthly death, or a desire for union with an omnipotent spiritual being, or a combination of the two. Polytheistic religions, such as those of ancient Egypt, Greece and Rome, entailed the worship of many distinct gods or personifications of nature. Many cultures classified their deities into hierarchies known as pantheons; some religions, such as Hinduism, still have such pantheons. Other ancient religions, some of which incorporated belief in a state of existence after death, were more of a system of ethical philosophy concentrating on metaphysical contemplation (for example, Buddhism and Taoism). The ancient Hebrews were among the first people to worship a single omniscient and omnipotent being, Yahweh. He gave them His protection in return for their total faith and obedience. Common to all religions dominated by a single omnipotent force (monotheistic religions such as Judaism, Christianity, and Islam) is the idea that the power is all places at once, and that it is beyond the physical plane occupied by humans. In many religions, both monotheistic and polytheistic, sacrifice to an individual god or to God is an important element, either in propitiation, or to redeem the faithful from some wrongdoing, or in thanksgiving.

In my opinion, religion is following a list of rules that are set up for the purpose of becoming a better person. Many people think that the centre/basis of Christianity is religion (a set of rules). However, in my experience, Christianity is better described as a relationship--Just knowing God and becoming more like Him. There is a law in Christianity, but I think it's there just to show us how bad humans really are; that we cannot know God or become more like Him merely by obeying the laws.

Well, me, I personally believe that we should believe and follow God. I would not call that religion because that should be apart of life since life comes from God. Religion to most have come to mean something indifferent and confusing which should not be, in the days when Noah and Moses and other such men lived they didn't refer to it as religion, it was either you worshiped the true God or not. I think that is simply what we are faced with today - either we worship and follow the true God or we are among the many who are confused because of so many "Religions".

We were created with the want and need to worship. As persons who believe this and also want to please our father the creator we should be organizied to worship him according to his standards. The bible, which is God`s divinely inspired word encourages us to meet with one another to encourage and incite to fine works. As we read and understand that being organized is a part of every aspect of God`s existence and creation. He requires we be the same. This is where religion would play a part. Now the next question would obviously be which religion displays the acceptable way of worship required by the creator?

Religion only means belief. The word is not limited only to the belief in a higher power, that is just the way it is usually used.
