the rash/ mites cause I have new bumps. My whole family was treated, but they had no bumps at all. We cleaned our home top to bottom 3 times and followed all the washing in hot water, using bug killer on the bed/ furniture etc. I am just getting frustrated. I do realize that the bumps take awile to go away and the itching is a side affect of the cream. Please help me. Thanks

Were you prescribed lindane lotion (Kwell)? That will kill them. And the itching is not a side effect of the lotion/cream. After treatment, it takes about a week for the itching to subside. Although the mites are dead, your skin is still irritated and itchy.

Yes, scratching spreads the mites. If you have new bumps since treatment, you are still "infested". Go back to the dr. or pharmacist. When you used your 1st treatment did you follow instructions, and be sure to cover ALL your body from the neck down, especially the hands, between fingers, groin area, behind knees, and other creased places on the body? This is important.

If your family used a product other than lindane, you may have wasted your time. If so, either go get a script for some lindane lotion, or ask your pharmacist for some "Kwell". Sometimes they'll give it to you without a script. Re-treat every family member.

If at all possible, take your family away, out of the house, for 3 or 4 days. The mites cannot live without human skin contact for more than about 3 or 4 days. Launder and machine dry all your bedding and clothing, then get out of your house for a few days.

Good luck to you.

You and your Family seem to have done everything necessary to rid yourselves of Scabies. If they re-occur, then someone may be bringing them home from work, or school. Scratching does not spread the mites. The itching usually stops within several days of treatment, and the visible signs of the process should be gone after about 2 weeks...
