Yes - In your folder options, go to the tab called File Types and find all of your different music extensions, like .wav, .mpg, mpeg. Select it and click on Change. In that list, find the music player you want to use to play those types of media files. You may also have options on other players to make it your default player.

Right click on the file you want to play (such as an mp3) in another player. Go to "Open with..." and browse to the program that you want the file to use. Select that program and then check the "Always use this program...." box at the bottom of the window.
After that, all files with the same extension (such as mp3) will open with the other program.
Repeated as needed with other file extensions.

yes install another player, re start your pc and open the new player program when you do a window will pop up saying "such&such isnt your default media player, would you like it to be?".. or something slong those lines, and then click yes. done

Go to your (My Computer) and go to program files, then delete Windows Media Player.
Then go online and find a download for quicktime or realplayer andd downlaod it, restart your computer, and change the options so they will be your default player. Goodbye WMP!

when you choose a song to play, right click on it then click on "change" under the media player.
be sure you have another media player program installed.
