Yes they do. Devil took the form of a snake but that doesn't mean that all snakes are hosting a devil. Rememeber, all life-forms were created with a purpose to praise Lord. Snakes are no exception.

The devil can disguise into many things..everything evil. That doesn't mean the snake is evil.If you remember correctly- the devil WAS an angel that was cast out (hence the term "fallen angel") meaning pure turned spiteful.
Beer isn't evil...people that cherish it let a wicked need come over them.
Drugs don't hurt your body UNLESS you do them;(illegal)OR take them the wrong way;(prescription).
The items on a store shelf aren't evil...but it's evil if you steal them.
The car is not evil but if you don't be careful bad things will happen...
Get the idea? I have a 7 yr. old son too...I'm careful about this kind of thing because they are counting on you for the answer in which you believe to guide them...I try to always say "in MY belief , I feel.." so that he knows his opinion is what is in his heart- not mine.
I'd also like to say that there is a reason for EVERY being and every person in this world.

Taking the form of a snake is quite different to being a snake.
OTOH it could be argued that just as some X-ian faiths teach how the "origional sin" means all children are born in sin, maybe Snakes have also paied the price of another's selfishness.

You need to read up on the data found on the Sumerian tablets that predate the bible. The bible's garden of eden story was plagizied from this older myth. In the original version, "Eve" was a male and the snake a good guy.
You also need to read "The Origin of Satan" by Elaine Pagels. That's a manmade fable also.

Originally, snakes DID go to heaven, but Saint Patrick has since chased them all away.

I was under the impression that only humans have spirits. Animals don't; but who are we to make this claim? I don't know where I heard this. Anyhow, the logic goes that only spirits go to Heaven, & since animals don't have a spirit...they simply die. No Heaven.
