He hinted last night that he did not want to get married (we are engaged ). He is my everything. But I have enough selfrespect to make a clean break and accept it. He is not a good guy. What are some of the signs I should look for and how can I know he is not in love with me and how can I break up with dignity.

He`s not a good guy? Then he`s not the love of your life! A clean break is now. No marriage or children to deal with. Your dignity will survive just fine. Better to realize our mistakes BEFORE we make them. GOOD FOR YOU!!

Do you want to break up with him? OR
Do you think he is going to leave you??
What exactly did he say to "hint" that he was not intersted in getting married?? I need more details to answer this one. It sounds like he has said an off the cuff comment and I think you might be reading too much into it - but then again I don't know what he said??

The signs are right in front of you.
How does he act when with you, does he pay attention to you or something else all the time,
Does he prefer to be alone, then with you?
Does he sleep on the couch when your in the bedroom for no apparant reason?
does he put up those types of signs that say Im busy, so don't disturb me. gestures?
well if any of these signs are in your life right now, I'd say he does'nt love you and wants his freedom. so give it to him, and do y ourself a favor and find the man that really does love you.

The clear cut sign was when he said he didn't want to get married...and ur engaged. Cut it off now, he was being honest. Tell him you love him but you deserve someone who will treat you better. Good luck!

"He is not a good guy" is a huge flashing neon sign. List the reasons why you wrote that on a sheet of paper, and carry it with you everywhere.
Make the clean break.

If you love him let him go. In the long run you will find someone new. Yes keep your self respect and dignaty. If it was meant to be he wil be back, if it wasnt then it just wasnt meant to be

just ask him straight forward..... and don't worry, when this happened to me i felt like it was the end of the world but 1 month later i found myself knowing new people and enjoying my time as i never did before

I think you need to redefine the phrase "love of my life". If he's going to break up with you, then obviously he's not.
