(x-1/x)(x-1/x)=(x-1/x)^2
=(x^2)-(2*x*1/x)+(1/x)^2
=(x^2)-2+(1/x)

(x-1/x)(x-1/x)
= x*x - x*1/x - 1/x*x - 1/x*1/x
= x^2 - 1 -1 - 1/x^2
= x^2 - 2 - 1/x^2

But this is not a solution, normally it is equated to 0 or something and then u find the value of x.
