my heater on the escort 18 si only works on the third setting anyone know why?

Could be a bad switch, Resister balist, or a bad connector at the blower. I would start with the switch first. It's the most cost effective.

you have a bad blower switch, or either the knob has broken and when turning it, the switch is really not moving...pull the knob off and check it, if OK then replace the fan selector switch.

9 times out of 10 when this happens its the resister which is under then bonnet. take it to your local garage they should be able to replace it pretty cheap for you.

go on a ford forum/chatroom. this is a comman fault aand they have step by step instructions how to fix. my brothers went last year easy fix-switch or resistor
