i wash the car by hand mostly as i do a top job on it, but on the odd occassion will pay for a hand car wash when i have been unable to get it done myself, but never use an automatic car wash as over a period of time this will affect the paintwork on the car

myself' as car washes after time ruin the paint work, they fade the paint work & you get those swurly scratches too. you can do a better job doing it yourself. Or most car valeters will do just a quick hand wash & wax for about a fiver which is loads better than a car wash.... ; )
