Sounds good if you want to take 23 hours to get from LA to New York. But what if you want to get from LA to Seattle - the Earth doesn't rotate that direction.
In reality, I think the Earth's gravity basically binds you to a place - that's why when you throw a baseball straight up in the air is comes back to you rather than landing several hundred feet away. For your idea to work, you would probably have to get several hundred miles above the Earth and the energy required would be much greater than that required to fly the distance.

because everything is relative. If you jump straight up in the air the earth's spin wont make you end up a mile away when you land, right? That's because you are "relative" to the earth. Your idea is valid though if we were able to extend a pole out into space and fix it to something that is stationary out there. But then that pole would appear to be moving at a high rate of speed and be subject to those forces. Much like if you tried to hold your hand out of an airplane in flight. The force of the wind would rip your arm off. It would be hard to keep it in the same place. Everything in this universe only appears to move because of its relation to its surroundings. Relativity. Who is to say what is really "moving" and what is standing still, because, really what is "still". Something is only considered "still" if something else is moving near it.

been done. winds aloft are partially affected by earth rotation, that is why jet streams always flow from west to east. very high altitude balloons can circumnavigate the globe without landing because of this in about 20 days.
