That's a long time and a lot of water under the bridge. Whether I waited would depend on all of the following :

1. Do I believe that my partner was actually guilty of the crime ?

2. Do I believe the punishment fitted the crime?

3. How much do I love my partner and is that worth10 years of my life?

Would depend on the crime. But in saying that, ten years is a long time. What if you didn't have children and you were in your 30s and by the time they got out it would be too late? You can't really put your life on hold for a criminal.

If I loved my partner at the time he went to jail for ten years and he hadn't done a crime such as murder or rape or hurting a child IN ANY WAY AT ALL, I would wait for him.

I also wouldn't wait for him if he was heavy into drugs such a Meth, Cocaine, Heroin, LSD or any of the big stuff. (I don't even like pot being used around my family).

I also would leave him if I found out he was with another man,
whether it happened outside of jail or inside of jail.

But if, I had already gotten to a point in our relationship that we were on the verge of a breakup anyway, I would leave him.

i think it would depend on the crime.

and most of all. how was your relationship, and is he really worth stopping your life for 10 years? Will he change when he gets out, would you want a family with a felon?

These are questions you need to ask yourself.

If he was a white collar smuggler that made some shady business decisions- I might wait. only maybe....

If he was a cocaine smuggler who brought mass drugs into the states and had a very bad habit- I would probably forget about it.

10 years IS a long time!
I thought 6 months was bad (with the Army!)
I suppose it would depend on the crime too!
