You'll find that in most religions the belief that can connect them all is the belief of treating others the way in which you would like to be treated. It's called the Golden Rule in Christianity, but it has many different names in various religions.

Although some followers and organized religions don't necessarily practice this belief - it is there in most religious texts of many eastern & western religions and is a universal priniciple.

Unfortunately my friend the ultimate truth about religion is that gods and devils and other assorted boo-haha don't exist. Religion is a means of social control. There was a sign in the back window of a car I saw recently and it had "God said it ... I believe it ... and that's that!" Nuff said?

Control of the masses through intimidation, scare tactics, and brain-washing. Anyone who still thinks religion is about peace after all the hatred and war we've seen between Christians/Muslims/Jews is either ignorant of the facts or living in denial.

For some time now, I have replaced the word 'religion' with 'faith'. Organized religions create more bad than good....but faith in a spiritual deity - whatever that means to you - can inspire you to goodness and enlightenment.

religion my friend was adopted by are ancestors...not because they had nothing else to do but because they needed some set of rules to limit there actions by the decision of there conscience rather than any one telling them ....first man created religion....then it got out of hand ..then man made law...now that too is going out of hand...ultimately man follows religion no matter which one it is so that he can live with peace and understanding with himself and his surroundings...
