The Pursuit of Happyness is based on the real life of Chris Gardner - it is not a fictional story. Many people have experienced what happened to him - poverty, losing home, spouse walking out, etc. What makes him exceptional is how he dealt with it while trying to complete that internship. Most people would struggle to not give up completely when faced with a similar situation. Chris kept pushing toward his goal and he made it. That is also why his story was made into a movie - trust me, we wouldn't have seen his story if he had failed.

yes it is a true store. Garner wrote a book. He was on Oprah talking about it with Will Smith when the movie came out. Numerous articles were written about the movie's validity. Spending two minutes looking it up online will uncover all you are asking and more.

It's an interesting movie. I felt that it was great to see the guy "make it". I wondered about the story of the ordinary guy who doesn't have a genius IQ.

One of my favourite movies about the struggles of life in America is "Blue Collar", with Harvey Keitel and Richard Pryor. Pryor gives one of the most moving performances I've ever seen in a film. You want him to succeed but you know he is doomed. I feel that is more like the usual story.

the ending could have been alot better. the movie was good but could use changes.

i do not feel it is accurate in america.

i do believe it could have happened to one person. but i doubt if it would happen in todays times.

if there was a similair situation today mostlikely DYFS would be involved.

Majority of people today have an I dont care attitude about everything, the world owes them. Whoaz Me, I don't have a job, give me state money for free, I can't work.

The story is OK,but I'm not agree with the unnecessary suffering to his son in the movie, because his proud was above son's rights...in example....the wife has the capacity to give house, food, etc to his son ...at least for a while....but he was too proud to accept that....so the kid was unnecessary put in a unhappy situation.........I think the rights of the kid was first at all..........how can I, like a father, put to sleep my son in the streets couldn't make that in a warm bed with my ex-wife...at least for while...later change the situation you could fight for a custody of the kid...........

best regards...

I thought it was okay, but it was a stupid ending. I thought that they should of showed him and his son getting the money and buying stuff they never had!
