I have experienced the issue myself. I our case it was a matter of upgrading the firmware. Check with Netgear to see if you have the latest version http://kbserver.netgear.com/products/wgr614v6.asp

Once you have confirmed that check to see that the MTU is set the same as your Internet Provider - the default is 1500 but most DSL providers use 1492 although the difference is minimal the impact on speed may not be.

If all that checks out use netgears new "on-site" help to see if they can assist.

In some cases routers and modems just dont seem to like each other and a change to a different brand makes a large difference. No one can match every configuration and some do a better job for your particular setup.
