Just look up famous quotes by France's Charles de Gaulle. He was the one who came to Montreal during the Expo 67 to celebrate Canada's centennial celebration and proclaimed "Vive le Quebec Libre!" (Long Live Free Quebec!) much to the outrage of Prime Minister Pearson who was already dealing with the issues of separation and did not want this to be a platform for the separatists.
