Yes, I believe in fate, destiny and everything happening for a reason. I don't believe that anything that happens is accidental or incidental. Why do I believe this? I have spent 10 years linking the events of my life from the smallest exchange to the biggest situation. I have discovered that nothing happens without a reason or a purpose.

Oh yes I do...one thing I believe is never to label anything as being a good or bad thing because we don't know why things happen, what the larger picture is....a few years ago I was forced to move when I didn't want to and I was in agonizing pain...but now I see these things had to happen in order for me to meet the man who changed my life and now I am studying to become a physician and I'll always believe the events which led me to this man was destiny, although I didn't know it at the time. The forced move, the agonizing pain were all steps to lead me to the person who I was meant to meet to show me the higher purpose of my life. Don't question anything, there may be a reason why you're not suppose to catch that flight, or take that bus or marry someone...

All things happen for a reason, no matter how insignificant they may seem. Each person may already have a set destiny or fate in this world. But ultimately, we have the choice to fulfill that destiny or not to. This is the power of free-will.

The fear in believin fate is that it stops us from believing we can make a difference since everything is fated. But i do believe things happen for a reason as its God way of making a decision when we are stuck in ours. As it is, its tough enough to decide what ones going to have for lunch, let alone control the things ard us!

I believe both. Sometimes, no matter how hard I try, things will not go my way. Often, later, it seems to me that the way they did happen was for a reason: led me to something I'd never have found, or done, or learned, of my own volition, or kept me from something that would have been harmful or unproductive for me. What we control are our choices and our attitudes. We can be alert to opportunities and to possible disadvantages or roadblocks. We can stand pat, or set a new course. We can be hesitant, fearful, deliberate, or we can be venturesome, daring, or downright foolhardy. Yet, whatever we choose or decide, however carefully we plan or prepare, not everything will always go our way...and that often seems to me as it if were foreordained.

Under the doctrine of absolute pre-determination, society cannot hold us responsible if we decide to get drunk and our actions result in an automobile accident. Such incidents would have been part of a chain of causality that originated with the beginning of the universe. If we have no Free Will, there can be no responsibility and no punishments. Society could not exist.
The speculation that we have no free will defies common sense and our everyday experience of life. With the intervention of free will, our future, and thus the future of the universe, will follow a path different from the path it would have pursued without our intervention.
In addition to scientific considerations, common sense insists that Free Will exists. Who would deny that we have Free Will when we put one foot in front of the other and decide, of our own volition, of our own Free Will, to go for a walk or not go for a walk this afternoon? It is clearly irrational to believe that a chain of causality (pre-determination) at the time of the Big Bang determines if we go for a walk this afternoon, or not.

Of course .There is always a reason why things happen, otherwise they would not happen.I do not think we can control fate and destiny because we no not have the brain power .I believe they are pre-ordained and cannot be altered.

Yes, everything is predestined. From the journey of the stars to what you will have for lunch today. Otherwise it would be unbearable to think. Can you face the facts that you alone are responsible for all the bad things that happen to you? Can you be accounted for for every mishaps, accidents, failures, heartbreaks, diseases, and bad luck? It may appear that we have some control over our lives, but when we get down to it, the choices that we make are also predestined. Don't believe me? OK, test yourself. Have you ever wondered what life would be like if you were friends with someone else? We think that we choose our friends, but the truth is, our life chose our friends for us..

All of the above...
We all have a destiny, something we are meant to do. But the choice is still ours whether we follow that or go the opposite way. You can follow your dreams or ignore them. You can choose to be happy or unhappy. You are always in control. It's just that you'll be happier if you do the things you're meant to do.

I have a vague idea of 'things normally work out for the best' but I don't believe in fate per se. To believe in determinism is to relinquish the idea of free will which I think is quite horrendous. No, people always make their own desicions which are not preordained.
