will all the years and units of my liberal studies major count toward the undergraduate program toward medical school or do I have to start all over again?

The real question here is, since you have avoided taking technical courses like chemistry, physics and advanced math for years, why do you suddenly want to do a total switch and start on a career which is almost totally technical? The kids who you will be competing against mostly have been interested in medicine since they were in high school. They started taking chemistry - and taking chemistry seriously - when they were 15. Now you want to compete against them. It isnt so much that you CAN'T do it... the question is, why do you suddenly turn your back on all the things you have enjoyed and been interested in for years, to choose things that you never have been interested in. Did you get hit by a lightning bolt or something?

I think you mainly have to look really carefully and decide what it is you are trying to do. Did you just watch too many episodes of "House"?

If you go ahead with this plan, you will not have to retake the non-science courses, but you will have to take all the science courses from the beginning in sequence... chemistry, organic chemistry, biochemistry, physics, calculus, etc. and you will have to do well in them - you need a B+/A average in all of them and then a very good score in the MCATs....

Good luck (you're going to need it).

you should be fine, as most medical schools require you to have a certain number of credits in the humanities. this way you'll be able to focus more on the science classes because you have the humanities out of the way.
