Not necessarily would it eliminate crime altogether, but I think it would be a really good deterent if the 'criminal element' had the slightest notion that their potential victim may be packing some heat! If you break into my home fostering 'a violent attitude' and I am staring at you in my underwear-you probably won't feel intimidated or run! But if you break into my home fostering 'a violent attitude' and I'm in my underwear-pointing a 9mm or .45 at you. I really think you are going to have some serious second thoughts has to why you are there? If you choose to flee...fine,I'll let you go! If you choose to proceed with 'a violent attitude'...well I guess you're going to taste some 'Lead A La Mode'-before I call in the Cavalry! But you'll certainly get an ample enough warning-before the trigger starts to get squeezed! And I'll certainly try to avoid killing you, unless it's totally necessary!

Who decides who's responsible enough, the government? According to the government the young man that shot 32 people to death last week was responsible enough to own firearms. I support the second amendment rights of all non-felon sane Americans, but when has the government ever been a good judge of character.

In the state of Pennsylvania where I live anyone can get a conceal and carry permit for their hand-gun. It's just a form you fill out and they send you the permit with no additional background check required. You don't even need a reason beyond self-defense which anyone can claim.

Even if all "responsible" people carried firearms they still would not be allowed to carry them onto college campuses. Any property owner has a right to disallow the carrying of firearms onto their property including colleges if they choose to do so. If you need a good reason why firearms aren't allowed onto college campuses, go to any bar in a college town at closing time for a glaring example of why college students shouldn't carry guns.

I don't even want to think of what would have happened at all the drunken college guy brawls that I've witnesses if one of them had a pistol with them.

I would never want to carry a gun. However, this said, if someone on campus had a gun some of this bloodshed could have been avoided. Of course we would never have know the horror that would have transpired.

The problem with this argument is that our decision process would be horribly flawed with people deserving a gun not getting one and people not deserving one getting one. This is just not a black or white, yes or no question.

In a nutshell, No. Who determines which people
are responsible, and which
people are not? Many are misdiagnosed, and put at
risk by the "responsible"
weapon carriers. (Such as
the deaf mute that was shot to
death walking into his apartment
building in NY city: he was getting the card out of his shirt pocket to inform police that he was a deaf mute.) The tragedy
at Virginia Tec should not have
happened. (Immigrants are not allowed weapon permits.) The only way to curb this type of interaction is to deal with the stresses and bias that a student
might face in College. I would
suggest a stress management
class, be required for all
students, in their freshman or starting year, addressing issues of stress, bias, rejection, and
to whom they can turn for moral
support.

I think gun accidents would go through the roof. Are you so scared you need to run around with a gun? I think people who carry guns around, by law, should walk around with a blue flashing light on their head. That way, I know who to stay away from. Leave your guns at home. Play with them in the most responsible of ways. NOT IN PUBLIC.

in accordance to Professor Gary Kleck on the college of Miami at Florida the greater weapons in the palms of regulation abiding electorate the less crime there is. (Duh!) on an identical time as i will confess there are some human beings i does not desire to verify strolling approximately armed, i might would desire to be in desire of your description of all of us. it somewhat is impossible to have the two case in spite of the incontrovertible fact that. you may not git rid fo weapons, there isn't any magic desire to wave and have all of them disappear. Criminals will nevertheless have weapons no remember what regulation you pass. in basic terms look at super Britain the place they have outlawed exceedingly much each and every style of gun and gun crime went way up. they're on an island and that they might't comprise unlawful weapons. we can't do so the two. look at unlawful drugs or maybe human beings that smuggled into the U. S. illegally. you may not end unlawful weapons. subsequently we would be in better shape if all regulation abiding electorate have been armed. in case you examine the supplies under, i've got self assurance any questioning guy or woman, (not somebody transforming into comments with their thoughts) might agree.

You can't count on people to act responsibly. If everyone carried a gun we'd probably have anarchy and homicides would go through the roof! I'm a gun owner, and a firm believer in the 2nd Amendment, but if it ever came to "everyone" packing heat, I think I'd be packing my bags.

Crime will always be with us no matter what we do. But the no gun zones are safe haven for the lawless seeking unarmed victims. And armed citizens, does make a polite society.

Definitely NOT! Guns would get mislaid or stolen. Even the most responsible of people have an "off" day and whose is to say they wouldn't use their gun in an angry dispute?
