I was taught, at the motorcycle riding class, to kick up side stand before mounting. Points will be taken away if I fail to do that properly. The school believe this is the proper way.

Now that I ride a chopper, I mount bike first, then kick off side stand. My Yamaha dragstar has a kill switch feature. After starting motor, the kill switch will be activate when I push into any gear with the side stand down. Maybe you can install this safety feature.

Try to remember the best way to look "cool" in front of a girl is the ability to ride off with smoothness, not the clown that becomes a joke in leaving the sidestand down. Pretend they aren't there or you could pretend they're a bloke dressed in drag, whatever you do good luck!

I did that a couple of times a year with my old Honda Nighthawk.

My Yamaha Virago has a side-stand sensor engine kill switch. It can't be put into gear with the side-stand down. You need a different motorcycle!

Apply the theory "Side stand vs Girls". This will remind you to move your bike's side stand whenever you see a girl.Mind you! If you are not going to apply this formula forthwith, sure, you will see the heaven very soon.

First, don't look at girls when your first starting out...wait till you get going. Second, put a little note in the center of your speedometer to remind you to make sure that the stand is up.

There are two problems here -1)You forget to fold your side stand.2)You are unnecessarily staring at girls. The solution lies in deciding which of the two problems you wish to solve.

As for problem 1, if you keep forgetting to fold your stand, you are in for trouble. You are likely to hurt yourself badly one day. Remove the side stand altogether. Use the main stand always.

The solution to problem 2? Get married!!!!!!!!!!

Go to Radio Shack.
Buy a "momentary, normally closed" button micro switch.
Mount it so that the switch is "closed" when the stand is down
and "open" when the stand is up.
Wire it to an "Idiot" light. (Wonder how they came up with THAT name?)
ORRRRRrrrrr.....
Pay ATTENTION to the business at hand, don't multi-task/show off if you can't carry it off!
