I am currently in 10th grade right now, and have a 3.2 grade point average. I am wondering if i can raise it to a 3.8 by the time i finish high school.

If your GPA now is based upon all of your grades in grades 9 and 10, and if you take the same number of courses every semester, then no, a 3.8 is not possible. The highest you could get is a 3.7, unless you have AP classes which are graded on a 5-point scale. Here is why:

So far, you have had 3 semesters worth of grades, with an average of 3.2. You have 5 semesters worth of grades left to go, with a maximum of 4.0 possible. Your entire high school career consists of 8 semesters. So, you would calculate the maximum possible as follows:

((3 x 3.2)+(5 x 4.0))/8 =
((9.6) + (20))/8 =
29.6/8 =
3.7

possibly, but it doesn't matter --- whatever it will be is what it will be -- what's important is that you just do your best throughout.
