As long as the pond has not been contaminated there shouldn't be any problems

Put 30 kids in a pond of water, 1 or 2 will get sick.

Using pond water for projects, so what.

Our bodies either adapt to what we get exposed to or we dont.
Have the water checked by a pro before you give it to kids to play with.
Use proper safety procedures and clean up afterwards should be no problems..Of course we have all the over- reactionaries in control of everything these days.

Dont blow it all out of proportion. Germs and things are on every single surface we touch, food we eat, and drink we swallow. Unless you live in a bubble, you will be exposed to everything out there with the six degrees of seperation factored in.
Enjoy life and learn more, dont sweat imaginary threats.

I'm sure it's fine. I can only think of bacteria being in the water, but I doubt it would be harmful if it gets in contact with the skin or anything. I had to do a project a long time ago where i had to get a jar and collect a sample of pond water (the whole class did) and i think we looked at samples of it under a telescope.

Sure, it's safe. Just be sure that they know not to drink it! Kids around here catch guppies and play in the pond all the time. Just remind them to not touch their faces and... wash with soap and water when they're done.

Well, as long as they are young enough to understand that they can't drink it, I would think it would be ok,. I would also make sure they understand they cannot harm anything living that is in it, and make sure they wash their hands well afterwards.
