I was like that....no marriage, no kids, no plants, no pet rocks...just wanted my career and to fulfill my needs and desires as I went along.

Funny how life just kicks you in the teeth when you are settled and meet the "one" who makes you want to marry and have children.

I think that someone who never wants to marry or have kids has never met that someone who gives them their desire for it. I know for myself if I had stuck to my decision and not married and had children...my life would have been lonelier and one dimensional. I can't say for sure that I would have known any different but I'm glad I do know for myself now.

But, if someone lives their life in such a way as to not get married or have children on purpose I see nothing wrong with it. As long as that person is happy and satisfied, its their life. Who am I to judge?

Someone who doesn't want to marry: I dont really blame them. I mean look at the world today Men and Women are cheating left and right. Why go through the pain and heartbreak. For someone not to want kids, especially women, i think is extremely selfish. We were given the gift to bare children and we should fulfill it. Yes Men are assholes but children are the most amazing things. And raised right than they are even more extraordinary.

I think it happens for a few reasons... either they want to lead a life where they spoil themselves and have no responsibilities to family or they've been really hurt in the past and have a bad taste for marriage and kids. I know people like this from each category. My ex spoiled me rotten, but never ever wanted a family and it killed me. He saw no purpose becaue he couldn't control how kids would behave and this bothered him. I hope to have a family one day so I guess I don't understand this view.

Smart. Not because he or she is avoiding the hassle, he or she is smart because they know themselves well enough to know that getting married would only create a burden on more than one or two lives. Would you rather get married and have children knowing it won't last? Would you rather bring lives into this world knowing they won't have a happy home?

Idiocracy, the movie. They must be the smart ones, since they don't want to have kids. Unfortunately, that lets only the dumb have kids and they will eventually rule the world.

That sounds like my wife! Unfortunately, there are many out there... Marriage and kids simply freak them out. But the usually mellow over time.

When you're 60 and single, and your friends are passing around grandchildren pictures, that's when the fun begins...

I think that person will have a lot of free time and money to spend on themselves. That's cool. Not everyone is meant to settle down or have kids. More power to them.

That's their choice not mine. I got married late - too late to have kids Kids out of wedlock never really appealed to me.
