I do NOT answer a troll's question since that feeds their hate. I simply report the question. I also report any of their hate-filled answers that I run across.

I took the suggestion of the member named "HRC.ORG" and made a form response almost identical to HRC.ORG's original to put into the details portion of the reporting page. Here is what I copy and paste into that spot:

My reason for reporting this user is the offensive, abusive, and hate-filled language used, violating Yahoo!Answers community guidelines.

It directly violates the following “don’t’s”:

#6: Harass, threaten, insult, or behave belligerently towards others.

#7: Post racist, incendiary, or otherwise objectionable content.

I would like this question/answer removed.

I also request that you specifically list sexual orientation in #7 to make it clearer that gay-bashing is not tolerated.

It's important for the community to 'self police' whenever possible.

I consistently report offensive content with a specific reason for each report... I think a customized explanation has a bigger impact than a form letter.

Not responding to their ridiculousness is probably the best solution. If no one rises to the bait they should chill a bit.

I totally just happened by here...I am sorry you are upset. I also believe that if you ever feel threatened you should act accordingly...you did the correct thing by reporting them for the abuses you have cited. Is this person truely hateful? Maybe...I have met some extremely frightning homophobic and racist people...that is how they were born, raised and have lived their whole lives...so they really don't know any different. To answer your original question....will this help with the hateful trolls? Help who? Help what? Will it stop the horde of other troll armies that are out there? Did you think the trolls cared perchance...about- anything? Uhhmmmm...No. They will always be there to round out the Yin/Yang. Welcome to Life 101

My instinct is to push back and draw the line in the sand rather than just turn the other cheek - that sends a clear message. But maybe you're right. I've been reporting user postings with specific reference to offensive content, hate speech, inciting violence. Thanks for for the HRC.org info - checking it out now.

I ignore them. I don't even bother with reporting them any more. All the reactions they get, whether it's reports, mirrored hate, reason, love, or spam, etc, that is what they live for! The feed off the muck that they sow.
If they don't get a reaction, their pathetic game isn't fun any more.

I agree with you. I never respond to trolls. I wish more people would stop replying to them. They're feeding them and giving them their pathetic little mini-orgasms that they can't achieve in their real "lives". It's disheartening to see 30 answers to a troll's post while only 4 to a decent, legitimate question.

What is your question?

Do you want to know if therapy can cure homosexuality?

In certain cases it can, but that depends of the will of the patient, who must really be interested in a cure.

Don't take things so personal. Report if you want, they might be erased, but will come back with a different profile.
