Personally, I'm a bookaholic. My only concern about having too many books is the limitation on space. Owning hundreds of books that I haven't read yet gives me a feeling of security. I will never run out of reading matter in the middle of the night, when all the stores and libraries are closed.
As a bookaholic, however, I have given up reading anything because I "ought" to. I loved Don Quixote, and I have reread it twice. War and Peace, and most other Russian novels, put me into a coma, and I avoid them. There are too many books that I will enjoy, to spend time on the ones I "should" enjoy. There are other people waiting for those books, who *will* enjoy them. War and Peace has its audience. It just isn't me.
So I'd say: If you collected those books because you thought you "ought" to read them, sell them off so somebody who *wants* to read them can have a chance. If somebody gave them to you because *they* thought you ought to read them, sell the books off, and then use part of the money to buy that person an ugly tie that they will never wear.
If you think you might read the books someday, or your children will, or your grandchildren will, then keep them as long as you have room for them. Even if you don't have much time for reading, you can get through a lot of books in just a few pages a day.

You should keep them. I am also collecting books and have many by now and I love them all. Sometimes I dont ahve time to read but I mostly read at night. Don Quixote is a really big book and I would really want to read that book I have read some parts at school but they never gave us the whole book. So I think you should keep them for the future.

That's for you to decide. Sooner or later life is going to slow down for you and you may want to have them to read. However, weigh that against having a little extra cash now. Books on the average dont sell for much unless they're very rare. Sell War and Peace - Read Don Quixote. Pax - C.

Sure it is. Sooner or later, you'll retire from what ever job is keeping you so busy. Then you'll have lots of time to read them. Also if you have kids or other family members do, you could make the time to read some of your books to them and encourage them to read. Finally, when it comes to money, a good book never depreciates, the longer you have it, the more it is worth. Eventually, hard bound books may become so rare (what with all the digital distribution of info and books these days) that they may become valuable antiques in a few years.

well if you collect books that are classics thats cool. about reading them though take an hour or so while eaither sitting in a chair or lying in bed to read a chapter a night or just a few pages a night. that should help you with your reading. with your collecting book if i makes you happy then yes keep doing it there is nothing wrong with having books about history or the classics.

That depends. If you think you may move around a bit (and if you're younger you probably will) then it's probably not worth it.
However, if you know that you're probably not going to move around a lot, or at least live in the same city for the rest of your life, then I think it's worth it to build a large collection. We are assuming that you'll read these books when you're in vacation or in retirement.

If you mean worthy as in worth money, then go ahead and sell them if they are not also worth just having them in your collection. If you are going to make use of them, either by reading them or just keeping them for their being decorative, then don't sell them.

It depends why you have them and how you feel about them. If they make you feel at home and you really think you will read them, by all means keep them. If all they do is collect dust and make you feel guilty for neglecting them, send them on for someone else to love.
