same reason hitler did. it's all apart of the whole NWO grand plan.
and people don't realize it becuase the propaganda machine aka the media is so powerful people have no clue as to wtf is happening.
just like germany in the 40's.
thank god there is enough weapons for every man women and child convientley lying around. otherwise we would have no power at all.
people take themselves for granted. the people are supposed to be resposible for the government and not visa versa. that's partly why we are allowed to have guns.

Odds are that they actually just want to keep the country secure from terror attacks. I don't approve, but I don't think they actually have some vast conspiracy.
To Aldo - The cliche I want to reply with is "Just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean they aren't after me." It's not exactly what I mean but close enough. Even if the government motives for cutting corners on the Constitution are actually sincere, it is a bad idea to let it happen because things like that naturally have a positive feedback loop. People see themselves as secure because of restricted rights, government is more worried about future threats so it restricts further, etc.
Churchill made an argument to the British leaders in the early 1930s, saying that even if Hitler's motives for rearming Germany etc were actually benign, he had to be stopped or Germany would start another world war. The reasoning is simple - whatever motives you have for taking a step, you reassess your options after each step and change your motives. Germany would inevitably become powerful enough to want war if it rearmed, so rearming had to be stopped before that happened. No one listened to him, and Hitler's motives were never benign, but the analysis was cogent then and it applies to this issue just as well. Even if Bush et al are doing this benignly (I give them that credit), it's dangerous because it sets precedents, and creates conditions. Obviously the conspiracy claims about Illuminati, and lizard people, and who knows what else are absurd (actually, did you hear that since 3 is the number of the Illuminati and there were 33 deaths at Virginia Tech, the shooting was clearly a terrorist plot organized by the government?). But just because we're paranoid doesn't mean they aren't gonna try and get us.

North Korea, China, Iran, Cuba, and Venezuela are police states. One boss and his rubber stamp party. Lock up all dissenters. We have a ways to go here yet before we reach that unenviable state. If we are such a terrible place why do thousands of Mexicans cross our southern border every day looking for a better life?

Because people have gotten lazy and want the hired help to take care of the problems. American Citizens do not take their responsibilities seriously. There was a FBI agent on TV tonight who thought Americans should not have the responsibility to actively assist any law officer. That is pure BS.

Proof? What, you have none? Not surprised.
If you make a statement as if it is fact, have some proof to back it up. We are not a police state!

It wants more control of its citizens and the "War on Terror " is a useful tool for doing this. Joseph Stalin would have approved of the way Bush is behaving.
