No, it only reports it. Psychotic people are psychotic people. If the media created societal violence, then wouldn't we all be violent?

Not overall. Sometimes, it can. Take copycat serial killers. If the news didn't detail what the killers did so much, these copycat killers would have nothing to copy.

In general, it does not. Us newsies only report what goes on in the world. For us to do that, the news has to come first.

I don't think that it CAUSES violence, but I think that in some cases, it can promote it.
I think that for some who have certain violent tendancies, the media can provoke someone with said tendancies to copy cat or try to one up what they have seen already.
These tendancies are not in EVERYONE, but for those who have them, it may make them more prone to act upon them.
