I feel safer with a pistol on my hip when walking around in the mountains. Have been considering getting a permit to carry all the time.

We must all be reminded freedom does have a price. What happened at VT was a tragedy, and if that nut didn't have access to a gun, he would have used something different. We must not fault the gun, we must fault the person or persons! If a person has an accident with a car, do we blame the car? If a person drives drunk and kills a family, do we "ban" cars?

Try to imagine this, A foreign country trying to land and take over the U.S.? The U.S. is lucky for now because the people that hate us the most are half way across the planet. Imagine a foreign country fighting a war on our soil, against an armed society. It would be the worst guerrilla war anyone could think of! There is a reason for our second amendment. We have the right to bear arms! We have the right to protect our country, state, county, city, street, block, and home against any foe! Would ANYONE not want that?!

I served just over 5 years as a federal law officer and have carried ever since under US Law. I have never had to draw. When overseas where I could not carry I was robbed 3 separate times the only country where I was really safe was Switzerland! You got to love the Swiss. They have no concealed carry, just every 7th person is in uniform and carrying a real assault weapon.

Yes, absolutely ! If everybody carried, nobody would do stupid insane things like trying to kill someone for no reason !! The whole country used to carry, openly and concealed. Crime was virtually non-existant. There were very few gun "accidents" because everybody was taught about guns. Then the libtards (LBJ's "Great Society", aka the welfare state) started gaining a little power and the country started going to hell. (Not all liberals are 'tards so back off!)

To a degree, yes. Arming everyone would, in theory, drastically cut down on the numbers of violent crimes being committed. There is however, one angle to this debate I don't see many people discussing. A great many people out there simply should not be allowed to carry loaded weapons in public. I can think of little worse than some Joe Hero discharging a firearm into a crowd of people while trying to stop a badly perceived mugging or theft.

That said, I think the important thing here is making sure that those people who choose to carry a weapon know how and, most importantly, when, to use it. Not trying to make everyone out there carry one.

Absolutely,The only way to remedy this is to arm the good guys also! Right now the good guys can't carry weapons to protect their own families and are heavily out numbered! We have no protection but the police who mostly arrive after a good person or persons have already been shot,If we are allowed to carry a gun without such screwy restrictions,we could stop a lot of this killing before it gets out of hand.!

An armed society is a safe society so long as the arming is with the proper authories such as the police/military where they are trained and made accountable to the choices they make everytime they take out their weapon.

If society is to be armed, then the responsibility for bearing arms should be increased as well such as proper psychological testing, firearm handling certification, regular license update, taking responsibility of the consequences caused by his weapon even if it was someone else who used it. This should be the case.

No-one can insure safety. But armed citizens does make a polite society. And is more dangerous for criminals.

dis honest people carry them all over the place and steal and injure and kill. if more honest people carry guns, the less crimes will be committed, in my opinion.

i know one town that passed a law that every citizen in the town over sixteen had to take a small arms course, and every one over eighteen had to carry pistils. do to the fact at one time the crime rate was so high it was unreal. once that law passed, the crime rate dropped fast.

why? because too many honest people were caring guns and it helped the police out allot. i am sorry for not remembering what town it was, but i thing it was in Montana.

No, because you have more accidents than you would without the proliferation of firearms.
The only reason criminals carry weapons is because the legal system is pathetic. If any person found carrying an unlicensed or illegal firearm was sentenced to a mandatory 5 year and anybody found with a gun ,licenced or otherwise, committing a crime, had to serve a minimum of 10 years before starting their sentence I think many of them would think twice.
Criminals know that if they get caught with a weapon they can get off with little or no punishment if they get a "good" lawyer.

You can answer your own question by taking a look at the facts. What has having the right to bear arms done for this country? Allowed more people to commit horrible acts of violence, allowed CHILDREN access to their parents weapons and hurt themselves or others. Ask yourself how did criminals get guns? Who brought them over here?

We don't need to be armed to keep civil obedience in this society. Guns do nothing but kill. If you are comfortable with that, that is on your conscience. Hope no one in your family is ever harmed by one.
