I partially blame the media and sensational stories. However, the Iraqi military is gaining strength and the people can finally trust their government (to a point of course). In addition, parks departments are being set up all over. If that's the case, then there's no way that we can be losing I don't think we would concentrate on such a thing if there was mass chaos everywhere.

I don't think we're losing. I don't like that word. I think we are sustaining things until Iraq can stabilize. The military already accomplished getting rid of Hussein and making it possible for Iraq to have a government. The stronger Iraq gets, the less the need for such a great U.S. military presence there. At some point, the U.S. will step down as Iraq steps up. I'm sure there will be some U.S. military there until long after I'm dead.

In the first place Iraq had nothing to do with 9 / 11, it was the Psyhopathic President George W Bush and the PNAC Chickenhawks like Dickless Cheney and the sad excuse for a human being Paul Wolfowitz who cooked up lies to get the American Military into a war of lies which some of you Americans still are blind sided about.

Basically the American troops are no longer wanted neither by Sunis or Shiites but the Dumb Fu,k Bush and Company are bent on staying regardless of what the majority of the American public want. Well Fu'k George W Bush and the PNAC Chickenhawks that rode into power in 2000 with as they will all go to He'll in the end.

We are losing because nobody defined what victory is. It is useless to win a war when there are no clearly defined set of objectives. It was said that we went to Iraq because of WMD's. Now we know that no WMD's exist. Then it was said that we went to Iraq to remove Saddam from power. Ok, now Saddam is gone. Iraq now has a democratically elected Prime Minister. But why are we still there?. What are we trying to accomplish there?. What are the goals that we are trying to pursue?. If there are no clear answers to these questions, then we cannot have any yardstick to which we can gauge success. And we would't have any idea of what we consider as victory.

I agree. Iraq is a complicated picture. Most people cannot understand it. But we are winning. Compare this to World War II, Korea etc. The casualty comparison is nothing. We lost more on Iwo Jima in a month then the first three years in Iraq. War is not supposed to be pleasant. For Americans to think we can win a war like in the wars in Hollywood...is foolish.

If the Media reported all the murders and shootings in America you would think there was a civil war here.

The world is not how television portrays it.

There never was and never will be any chance of "winning " in Iraq. Just like Vietnam.
To compare the situation in Iraq with WW 2 is stretching it a bit. Iraq was never a threat to the west, while the Japanese had to be defeated at all cost and because of that it was acceptable to use any means to achieve their total surrender.

because everyday people are still blowing themselves up. If you think australia has won or is winning then you have the intelligence of a 4 year old. The people of iraq will continue to blow themselves up till the americans piss off (and australia for that case).

Iraq is in chaos, the police and military are heavily infiltrated by various insurgent groups, the Shiite fundamentalist pro-Iranian Al-Maliki government is corrupt and getting ready to fall. Now we have to throw 14 BILLION American taxpayer dollars to "recruit" more insurgents into the "police" and "army". lol

It is not going well, it will not go well. The Failure will continue to fail. Invading Iraq in a War of Terror on Iraq was a mistake. It never should have happened. That is why Bush is and always will be The Failure.

We have lost the war in Iraq because there has been no real improvement there and the people whom we came to liberate are becoming a nation of refugees. We have created a civil war and are staying in the middle of it. Our soldiers should come home in the immediate future and we should stop paying thousands of mercenaries to fight there.
The contractors are corrupt and are stealing billions of us dollars for private companies and big salaries to mercenaries who do the same job as our GIs do for a pittance. of course no one want to talk about this.I cry and pray for our solders and our country. God rescue America.

because we are these people have been fighting from their time of existance and for having the most powerful military we are getting our asses kicked by a bunch of psychos. We should have had some control after being there so long. It's chaos and those people will never stop until every last person is dead including them. They rather die than let us have the last word. Here we go another 13 years before we are big enough to say we have been defeated. The middle east has been a mess before we got there and it will be a mess after we leave. All those people know is dying and killing for their cause. It's their way of life. I can't remember when it was ever at peace, do you?

because the important players know that significant advances aren't happening fast enough, or worth the losses sustained to accomplish them.
we aren't losing the war, we just aren't winning it either.
note the amount of wounded that you'll be wanting to cut off support in the future, so taxes can be lowered.

why not perform your own example?
stand up away from your computer.
take one step toward it, and then take one step back.
are you winning the struggle to get to your computer?
