I want to sell home made bracelets, necklaces, candles and other crafts on ebay, but I'm not sure if it'll just be a waste of my time when I try to sell them. Is there any feature on ebay that will tell me what is marketable in a certain genre or whatnot? Even if I decide not to go sell crafts, it would still be nice to know.

Hmm, seems obvious, but why not browse e-Bay in the category you are interested in and see what kind of activity there is on the types of items you are interested in selling. Do the browsing over a period of time, so you can gain insight into the buying patterns and price points of your target market.

Hi, I am an eBay Powerseller and have been since 2003. I have sold 12,000 items worldwide.

Go to advanced search and put in the item(s) you want to know about. Search for COMPLETED listings. This will give you listings that have ended in the last 30 days, whether they sold or not. You can then do your own research and come to your own conclusion. Look at these aspects of the completed listings:

If the item is sold, or unsold (sold will be in green)
Sale price
# of bidders
# of bids
Starting bid
Shipping price
Reputation of seller and reputation of bidder

# of bidders is important. That will give you a feel for the demand for the item. Be sure to look at completed listings as current listings won't help you - bids often don't come in until the last few minutes so you won't be getting an accurate snapshot of the whole story unless you look at completed listings.

If you find something that isn't sold on Ebay (and is still legal ), let me know. However, Ebay ripped me off since they charged me for an item that sold for a high price and the people never payed me. Be careful out there.

Crafts are done to death on ebay.

Try etsy.com - its a craft website.
