Find equivalent fractions with the least common deminator for:

17/12 and 7/32

are they equal?

Just by looking at them you can tell they are not equal. I believe the common denominator is 96. ;)

To get the least common denominator, find the least denominator that both 12 and 32 could divide into. Then you convert the fractions to an equivalent one with that denominator. Whatever you multiplied the denominator by, you do the same to the numerator.

No, not really because, 17/12 is already an improper fraction while 7/32 is an improper fraction it has an improbable possibility of becoming equal, unless of course, if you would change the numbers.

17/12=126/96
7/32= 21/96 No they are no equal
