I know many who have long left school and are still fumbling over what a noun is... Makes me wonder when I see so many kids (I'm speaking majority not minority - there are some cluey individuals amongst our younger generation) on Y!A asking and answering questions as if they know everything, but with incorrect grammar - when they probably should be doing their homework or using their brains for slightly more.. important things?

Nice to know Britney or Paris's love lives are going to assist in future pursuits of a successful career or home life.

Wonder how many thumbs down the teeny boppers are going to give me? :-p

Yes, they are. However, todays youth completely forgets about it when not in class. They don't try. They figure if they can get a passing grade in school, they are good. However, what they don't realize is that by using bad grammar outside of school, they are just making them selfs look and sound dumb.

By the way, I am only 19, and I don't type like most people my age. I have superior grammar to most my age, as well as spelling.

My husband is a teacher and yes he teaches grammar. The kids can use their street lingo with their friends but in the classroom, they must use proper grammar in all subjects. Same thing with our daughters at home.

I wonder about that sometimes too. Maybe kids are just spending too much time on computers where most everyone uses "shortcuts" such as plz, thnx, and that sort of stuff. It kind of annoys me when people use the wrong form of their, they're, there and too, two, and to. And most of the spelling I see nowadays is atrocious!

Yes, but there's a separate culture developing over the Internet that erodes grammar... lol.

Grammar ought to be taught....... even if only for the times you choose to disregard it.

Judging from what I see, hear and read...I doubt it. They apparently don't teach spelling either.
