I have relatively tan skin and would like to get a nice tan but I do not want to burn badly. What SPF of sunscreen should I use? 30 SPF?

30 SPF is good. I've been living in Costa Rica for a few months now and I must say that the sun is significantly stronger in Latin America than it is in the US. The further south into Mexico you are, the stronger the sun. I picked up a dark tan here just walking outside for about 30 min a day to/from school.
It's better to over prepare than under prepare.

I read that it doesn't matter if you use spf 15 or 30 or 45 cuz there's only like a 3% difference in protection. If you want a tan but still want to use suncreen, I'd say use 15 or 30. if you are going to be in the mountains use like 30 or 45 cuz you are more exposed to UV in higher altitude, if the uv index is high use 30 or 45.. i hear that spf 45 or higher is not good for your skin (i dont remember why, sorry!). And go swimming you will tan faster in the water

SPF 30 should be the one that you will be using. Regardless of the SPF, you will get taned, trust me. SPF 15 is too weak!!!! Unless you want skin cancer, better safe than sorry!

i use spf 30 or 45 all the time. no matter where I am going. I also reapply every two hours. also bring a hat and some sort of cover-up.

same spf that you would use any where. spf 30 is baseline...... about the best for max....... uv protection
