Not sure about the mother thing, but I will tell I have met some liberal men, true liberals not the socialists hiding behind a label of respectability, and they are not whiny, some of them are captains of industry and very powerful, but to reiterate, they are not socialists or communists like most of the "liberals" on Y!A
ANy one who has dissenting points of view reported is a gutless whiner, and there has been a large amount of reporting going on the last few weeks. I have an acquaintance at Yahoo and in conversations he said almost all violations come from the result of a person reporting them. The questions/answers are looked at slightly and then they pull them. The number of reports has gone up significantly of late but they do not keep any record of whether the question/answer would be a left leaning or moderate one, which of course would be an interesting statistic. He also said that not all violations are truly violations, just complained about.
So it does appear your whiney comment is correct at least on Y!A, and then they run to mommie to complain.
Truth stinks doesn't it

That's funny, I've had exactly the opposite experience. I grew up in a steel mill and oil refinery area where Union men are Democrats and being macho and working hard are pretty much all they've got. I'd like you to tell that to my 6'4" 250 pound muscle bound brick mason of a husband. I can hear that belly laugh of his already. Far from being an underachiever, he's risen high in the Union ranks and after 30 years of laying brick, he's sought after for difficult projects all over the United States and overseas. He provides very well for us, and I wouldn't trade him in for a lawyer or a doctor with a stick up his rear for anything.
Grow up hon, and stop stereotyping people. It's a fool's game and can you guess exactly who it makes a fool out of? Thought you could.

You obviously haven't met many male Democrats.
Say what you want about him, Bill Clinton wasn't exactly an underacheiver, born poor, Rhodes Scholar, elected President Twice, with no help from his family, a self made man, unlike little George W. Bush,
Personally, I'm a Democrat, have a master's degree, make six figures in corporate America.
You have made an ignorant, nasty generalization with no basis in fact.

I believe in Liberalism because I am strong enough to take care of myself and my family and want to give others a fair shake in life...because "but for the grace of God", I could be injured or killed in a construction accident or just become too ill to support my family...just like many are...if I don't show support for the people who need public assistance due to acts of God, who will protect my family if something happens to me. It's really not a liberal issue, but a blue collar, middle class issue....I have know many people who have been hit hard by some event in their lives who came back to be productive again and some who could never work again. do you live in such a protected environment that risks are some hypothetical problem or do you live in the world i do?
I'm a construction surveyor and build roads.

...In my case neither,.....My Dad was a lifetime Navy man, my Mom worked until she was 70......I learned to be a liberal because your party wants to drive this country into the ground for the profits it can squeeze out of it and nothing else matters. And any hypocrisy is cool as long as it gets the votes for them. And just to let you know - I'M a single parent, and a small business & investment property owner who started with nothing. I played 3 sports in HS and Ice Hockey Goalie in College ......so little lady I'M no toy...and I'M a liberal

To Nightshade,
My brother was a cheerleader. He's 6'4 and weighs close to 200lbs....solid muscle. He always said, "Why would I want to be a football player on the field with a bunch of guys when I can have a cute girl sitting on my hand in the air on the sidelines?"
By the way......He's republican too......smart kid....married now with a son and a daughter.

some.. and many others have been degraded by their fathers,, given no voice of their own,, told to buck up and shut up,, stifle,, no tears for "good ole boys",, their taught to kill animals,, gut them,, and eat them,, slap around women and the less fortunate, and call them names,, drink and drive,, get stoned and be home by midnight,, or call daddy's lawyer if they end up in jail on Saturday nights,,, but be in church or they will get an ***-kicking.
