The answer should be 692. The formula for the surface area of a rectangular prism is 2ab + 2bc +2ac. So..2(15)(8) + 2(8)(11) + 2(11)(15) = 746. BUT, there are those six rectangular holes, which are 3 X 3 each. So each of them has a surface area of 9, so 6 X 9 = 54. Subrtract that from 746 and you will get 692. Oh, and add the surface area of the imbedded rectangle holes, so that will give you 3 * 11 * 4 which will give you 132. And there is 3 of those, so 132 * 3= 396. Add taht to the 692 and you will get 1088 cm^3.

A = 2(8*11 + 11*15 + 15*8) - 6*3*3 + 3*4*3*11
A = 2(88 + 165 + 120) - 54 + 396
A = 2(373) + 342
A = 1,088 cm^3

T = 2(ab + ac + bc)

T = 2((11 * 8) + (11 * 15) + (8 * 15))
T = 2(88 + 165 + 120)
T = 2(373)
T = 746

746 - 2(3 * 3^2) = 746 - 2(27) = 746 - 54 = 692cm^2

I got . and showing my work....
15*11*2=330
8*11*2=176
3*3*11*2*2=396
330+176+396=902
(15*8*2)=240
(3*3*3*2)=54
240-54=186
902+186=1088
It's not that hard. It's finding the AREA of each exposed side and ADDING them together.

1180 square cm. Just remember to back out from your figures the missing surface area of both ends of the broad flat top and bottom of the figure, while factoring in the combined surface areas of the three ea. 3x3 holes passing completely thru the figure.
