I don't believe you can call them your friend, since you cannot see their face. You can consider them friendly and nice, but not your actual friend.

What is your take on this?

I agree with you. Unfortunately you can say whatever someone wants to hear on the internet. There's alot of sick people who use it to prey on lonely vulnerable people. That is sad.

I believe I can make friends through the Internet, and I believe that I have done that, over the years.

Consider this:

You cannot see the face of God if you don't know how to recognize what God's face looks like, but that doesn't mean God doesn't reveal how actual and factually real God is. It just means that people don't always know what or who they're facing when looking with the physical eyes.

Sure, sometimes I think it may be easier actually. In this day and age people tend to judge others on appearance and are not able to see past that to make friends with another. On here there are no faces, and if there are, it is only the face that the other person WANTS you to see. There are no barriers and people may be more apt to talk to a person based on that persons thoughts and opinions, not on their appearance. That is my opinion anyway. I am not a big Internet user, but that thought process makes sense to me. :)

Well, you can but both people have to be really serious about it. It also takes a long time to finally figure a person out. I have made friends with someone on the internet for about 4 months, and eventually he got creepy and started scaring me so I had to delete him.

I disagree. Getting to know people through the internet can eliminate a lot of the biases we have against people, you get to know the true person.

I might be biased tho - I met my current husband online. We have been together 10 years.

I really think you can ..I think by communication in time
you could really get to know someone here , I think people
are more candid and upfront because of the inherent
danger of the Internet.. Friends exchange pictures etc..
Just imagine not.. meeting some of the friends.. you have met

I've never really thought of it. I suppose if you really get to know them (and they actually tell the truth), then you are internet friends...but I also believe that you should NEVER meet the person you THINK you are talking to on the internet.

I know a few people who met on line and got married. I'm still a little leery about that kind of thing though.

Maybe I'm being old fashioned though. It seems to work for a lot people.

I'm more open with internet friends than real friends in general. It's easier to say stuff when you don't have to make eye contact
