"How To Apply Red Lipstick
Difficulty: Easy
Time Required: 2 minutes

1. Apply a light layer of foundation to your lips. Allow a few seconds to dry.

2. Dust the lips with a layer of powder.

3. Outline lips with lipliner if your lipstick tends to bleed at the edges. Be sure that the pencil matches your lip color.

4. Apply color (with a brush) to the center of your lips first and then brush color out toward the edges. This little rule of thumb will prevent you from applying too much. With the intenseness of the lip color, a thin wash of color is all that is needed.

5. Blot lips with a tissue.

6. Re-apply a second layer of lipstick with your lipbrush. The application of the second layer over a blotted first layer will ensure that your color lasts for hours.

Tips:

1. If your lips are too thin, bright reds will make them look more prominent.

2. Lips that are too full can be minimized by using brown or blue reds.

3. Having a hard time finding a red that suits you? Go to a cosmetic counter and ask for help. The salesperson will be happy to assist you. (It is in their best interest to provide you with the best shade for your coloring.)

4. There is a red for you. Everyone can wear red, you simply have to find the right shade. With my yellow skin tones, my best reds have either orange or browns added to the formulation."

As a guy who's dressed in drag (for halloween, parites, etc.), I can tell you this... make sure the tube has a point, a wedge shape... now, start at the top of one of the points below your nose. Lightly stroke down, then do a small line to the corner from where the line went off the lip. Do the same on the other side, then gently rub lips together. I can do a delta-cad drawing if you like, just write to me. it will show you the 4 and ony 4 strokes...

Try using foundation then light dust powder over lips, then try using lip liner close to colour you want ( maybe try lighter colour first incase you don't like the lines?) I remember reading something that said liners should start top lip centre and draw up in v shape, then try to take line from top of v down to sides. Bottom lip start at centre again and draw short line along, then join either side. Then you could experiment going over that lighter colour with deeper red, also experiment with filling in with the liner, then the ole lippy, blot with tissue, more lippy! Good luck chic! You can do it - just practice. Also try some rusty reds, sometimes reds toooo full on. I find REVLON colourstay overtime easier to play with - good line control filling in. I'm using one of their sheer ones now think suits me more - used to go the heavier goth look years ago! lol ( PS ignore those spelling morons! )

Dab and little light power on your lips( it holds the lipstick and liner better and longer)Then put on your lip liner( just take your time and slowly follow the natural line of your lips)Make sure the point on you liner is nice and pointy...then gently fill in the lipstick on your lips, But stay within the lip liner ..That's it! You look Beautiful!
PS..Make sure your lip liner and lipstick are the same shade..

You put on red lipstick just like any other color. I wear a bright red lipstick for dance on stage and it looks really good. Just make sure you stay on your lips, press your lips together but don't smear them, smile to make sure it's not on your teeth, and have fun. Red is a great color!!
