Plain water and a scrub brush enough?

Just a good brush and water. Please don`t use any chemicals. It could cause damage to your future plant!!!

I would go with hot water but water plus scrubbing brush is the usual.

Use some bleach in water also not a lot just in case the old plant that was in the pot had a pest problem that you were unaware of. The bleach will kill all of that after washing sit outside in sun to dry.

I rinse out side to get all the dirt off then I put it in the sink with a bit of dish detergent and scrub with a brush.

Try using bleach on the pot. That will kill any fungus on it, and then be sure to rinse well and let air dry.
