Hi,
I'm 12 weeks pregnant with my first child and I'm already starting to show... a little, but obvious when not wearing loose clothing.
Is this normal or is it because I've been eating too much? I have been quite relaxed with my eating habits since becoming pregnant. The bump isn't solid on top (although underneath it is) and is quite like normal over-indulgence! It WAS EASTER you know!!!
I'm a size 14 (UK) and 5'10 (1m66) with a BMI of just under 25 (before pregnancy!)...
If you've been in the same position around 12 weeks, I'd love to know it's normal!
Thanks,
Ali

Could you be having twins?

It could just be bloating or fluid retention. Between 6 and 12 weeks I thought I was showing but when I got to 13/14 weeks the bloating went away and I've only just really started to show again now (18 1/2 weeks) and some days my stomach is still quite flat, it depends on a lot of things, especially where the baby is lying.

I show early with all my kids... around 6-8 weeks usually. I don't show much, but I do show. I started popping out around 14 weeks.. so yeah, it's possilbe, especially if you have a short waist and the baby can't hide. At 12 weeks the uterus comes out from being protected by the cervix, so that is very possible to start showing then

I wouldn't worry too much about it. The more you read about others pregnancies, the more you realize there is really no such thing as "normal." Everybody has a different experience. Just try to eat healthy food and while doing so if you gain weight, that is just fine. Good luck.

At 12 weeks the top of your uterus is still several inches below your belly button. Everybody is different as far as when they show. Your doctor would tell you if you were measuring too big for your gestational week.

Really normal. Unusual since you are tall, but still totally normal. Just try to eat reasonable meals. Don't overdo it with the sweets and stuff. Trust me, I have spent the last year working off all that baby weight. not fun.

It is normal. You will bloat and then a few weeks later the bump will disappear. Remember that your baby is tiny at this point and will not make you "show" yet. But, if you are carrying twins you will "show" earlier in most cases.
