There is a difference in cultures. You are first generation american and you have your parents influence.
However , for every action there is a reaction. I feel it is a reaction to our society being so selfish about women's needs. I learned that in other countries throughout Europe, women are given social security benefits at the age of 65, even if they were stay at home mom's. Being a homemaker is considered a valuable job.

Because in our society women can finally make it on their own. They don't need a man anymore to be successful. We were put in roles for so long. And couldn't do anything without the permission of the husband. The men controlled the money and everything else. We finally broke out of that. And some women , like myself find that they don't need you guys but for 1 thing. And I'm sure you know what that is.

I'm not gonna lie, I am pretty into myself. But I wouldn't consider myself "self-centered"...I am just a confident young (American) women. I am intelligent, witty, and gorgeous...if I do say so myself. But when it comes to my man, I always do what I can to take care of him. I'd say I put his needs and desires ahead of my own quite often. Whatever he wants for lunch, I make it. Wherever he wants to spend his birthday, it's on. When he needs a massage, my hands are all his. I pamper him just as much as I pamper myself!

in general, I agree, and my parents were also American-born.
there are exceptions, but I prefer foreign women, too.
ADDED in response to later posters: I see a lot of defensiveness and negativity. You immediately assume that anyone who dislikes the current attitude trend of American women must want "submissive" or "dependent" women.
Not true.
I'm simply looking for someone who values people over SUVs and status symbols. I don't see many here in the USA at the moment.

How do you choose your girlfriends? If you are attracted to women solely on a physical basis, you're bound to run into a lot who are superficial. Most of the girls and women I know are anything but what you describe.

It's Americans in general, not just us women!
And your generalization is borderline offensive, because I know that NO ONE would say that about me or my friends. Perhaps you're attracted to the wrong women?

I think you're just making some bad choices. Try looking beneath the skin. Ever heard that we tend to project our own qualities onto others?

As an American woman, I don't think we are self-centered. We are, however, independent. Perhaps you're looking for subservience...
