I am writing a paper and need a base to research from. What I am writing about is the lack of political education among youth, and how that contributes to their vulnerableness to political "showmanship", and politicians not taking them seriously. Can people please give me examples (specific ones) of instances where political showmanship/campaigns has been used to particularly target teenagers/young adults, rather than actual intelligent politics, etc.?

I think of politicians visiting college campuses with actors and/or singers. When I was in college, John Kerry came to our campus with Bruce Springsten. Instead of debating issues, they say "look who I can get to campaign with me, I must be cool".
