(Fermentation follows glycolysis when no oxygen is present or in organisms that don't use oxygen even when it is present. Fermentation doesn't extract any further energy from the bonds of molecules. Fermentation just converts NADH back into NAD+ so glycolysis can continue.)
Not photosynthesis - stores energy in chemical bonds.
Not phosphorylation - also stores energy.
