What's potentially more dangerous to a hyperactive two-year-old who apparently has developed a habit of chewing anything on sight, a plastic duckie or a rubber duckie? Please think before you answer. Thank you in advance. If you could supply a reason, that would be more than welcome. Keep in mind that this IS a serious question that requires serious answers.

It's amazing how two main opinions dominate most of the answers.
Apparently most people believe plastic is more dangerous, but other more practical people think that either is not going to be very good for a kid.

Plastic is easy to chew of pieces than a rubber duckie. And if the child chewed off a piect of plastic with sharp edges they could not only choke on it but the sharp plastic edge could do some damage going down...

The rubber duckies are usually pretty thinck and not as easily chewed off...

Plastic duckie. It might be too hard for the kid's teeth. At least rubber duckies are softer.

Better yet, get him a real duckie to chew on.

I would think that a plastic duck would be safer to chew on. The baby would have to have a pretty strong jaw to break a plastic duck to choke on it. The ducks that they make for little kids are pretty thick plastic. But the rubber duck, it would be easy for the baby to bite through it. Which would mean they would be able to bite pieces off to choke on it. My vote: give them the plastic duck.

A rubber duckie wouldn't hurt her gums as bad as a plastic one would

Just add a drop of vinegar to anything he/she likes to chew on that you would rather he/she didn't...he'll/she'll learn real quick not to put that item in his/her mouth...sounds mean but better safe than sorry

Plastic is definitaly more dangerous because the child could swallow the pieces if it broke. Rubber is less dangerous than plastic.

I think that it depends on if there are pertruding objects coming from thre duckies or not. being a mother of a healthy 13 yr old i let him chew on both if they were his toys. obviously they are child safe if they selling them as childs toys

Seriously, I would ditch the duckie right now. Both could be dangerous if he/she bites off a piece and gets it lodged in his/her throat.

Plastic would probably be more dangerous, seeing as the kid's mouth could start to bleed and they could swallow the pieces of plastic.
