Another great question from you!
I think that for the most part, Americans have become so self absorbed and therefore "thoughtless" for a whole host of reasons.
For starters.... we are working longer and longer for less money....all while the cost of living is going through the roof....and we are tired... not an excuse, but it creates a "dog eat dog" environment where people are looking out for themselves before anyone else.
That leads into my second point: This society we have created has become so oriented around "self gratification" ( not in the sexual sense ). Everything is ME ME ME....
If you think about it, this country was originally founded on the basis of "US US US".... as the world gets smaller and smaller due to technology & the web, we seem to grow further removed from a collective sense of self. Sad but true....
Again... sorry to rant....... i'm done now.

when you mentioned "so many people"
I thought of myself too :) I guess I can be thoughtless at times too.
Sometimes it just happens to anyone at random times, a "numbing" feeling in the mind.
We are all human,
Humans Err,
Thoughtlessness can be an error too.
Humans can be described just by looking into the mirror. :)

What you are witnessing is different levels of learning. Some people are content with being semi-ignorant. I mean just look at some of the questions in Yahoo answers.

1. Because a lot of them never got a royal @ss whoopin' when they were young, so they think things should always be their way.
2. Because there are A LOT of stupid people in the world nowadays.
3. Because some people just SUCK.

People's lives are hectic and busy; and likely don't take time for the pleasantries other generations had time for. I guess we all have to slow down some and take time to appreciate the people we meet each day.

I think we have all lost our way - too much stress - life is flying past us so quickly. We try to keep up, but we forget that all of us have our trials and tribulations. Everyone you see whether you have actual contact with them or not - they all are carrying their own baggage, and whether we want to admit it, their problems just may be 100 times heavier than ours. Just be nice, or at least try to be nice!

People are not raising their children like we were raised years ago. There are no morals, it seems like it is come what may...I see it on Answers, 13 years old wanting advice on whether or not to have sex at 13......things need to chance.

Because they do not care, nor how to behave, disrespect because they feel they have the right to lash out to others when they fail to accept the consequences of their own actions. What does it take it put yourself in another persons shoes?

its a "me" generation. I have said this often, I cannot understand why so many people are inconsiderate of others lately. more education at home would do, but parents are also inconsiderate and kids see this, so it has to stop.
