LIfe is not guaranteed. Sure, you can give up all the stuff that age your body quicker. Quitting smoking is a good step towards the right direction, as well as eating healthy, ect., and you will most likely live a healthier life, but there are no guarantees in life. Any given day anything can happen to cut our lives short. In the positive side, there have been many people who have lived to be even past 100. You can attempt to cut back on all that does your body harm, and eat as healthy as you can and you can live a good, healthy life, and in the end, you will have given yourself the possibility of a loger lasting life, but again, no guarantees of how long you will for certainly live for.

It's not so much give up as it is being aware of your health.
Most nutritionists recommend a low calorie diet high in raw fruits & vegetables coupled with 20 minutes of aerobic exercise at least 5 days out of 7 per week.
Obviously, smoking plays a huge role in longevity. You are definitely on the right path.
good for you!

Even if you give up all the bad things for you in the world, and live better than ever, that still doesn't guarantee that you will live to be over 100. Eating healthy, exercising, and staying happy help, but there are genetic things also, diseases that you got from your parents. Just try your best, but know that you will never be guaranteed to live over 100.

Exercise and eat moderately on a regular basis.
A diet rich in whole, natural foods like fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and beans.
Low to moderate servings of animal protein, usually seafood or lean meat.
Few sugar-rich foods or sugary drinks.
Plenty of exercise. Most Okinawans are fishermen or farmers, and they enjoy activities like dancing and gardening well into their 80s and 90s. The people of Hunza also farm. For fun, they play polo. In Bama, children and adults climb mountains to get to school and work. The villagers of Campodimele and Symi are also very active throughout their lives.

way to go on quitting smoking ...
I have also quit smoking, and it's something I will never regret.. I also stopped eating between meals, and I eat a lot more healthy since I got married.
I also started exercising a lot more than when I was a teen.
I still don't want to live to a hundred though.... 80 will do for me

Congrats on quitting! I agree with you though. If I gave up everything I do that's going to keep me from getting there, I wouldn't want to be alive that long anyway. Besides, there are people that have smoked & drank for their whole life and still made it to 100. I'm shooting to be one of those ∑

If you give up things you like but are not healthy (like junk food, smoking, drinking, pot, hookers, etc), you still don't live a hundred, but life is so boring and dull it seems you've lived a hundred years every day...

My great great grandmother just dies last year at 106 years old..she was still very healthy and alert...
Also there was a woman like 114 who smoked / chewed tobacco since she was 12 according to her/ with no cancer yet
But I wouldnt advise doing that because youre not her and your body isnt gonna react the same way as hers

You're on the right track. People die of disease, not old age.
My mom made it to 95, but stopped taking her blood pressure medication.
Her aunt was 108 when she died.
Stay healthy , keep your mind active, laugh a lot.
These days 100 is not that hard to attain.
