Certainly, their claws can handle the climbing bricks (and mortar) as easily as climbing a tree.

You need to have a cap and screen on the top of the chimney to keep out unwanted visitors. Even birds can fly down an unused chimney and set up house.

Yes they can. I've had squirrels in my chimney twice. I've also had Rocky J. Squirrel (flying squirrel) in my chimney on one occasion. Clean them out and get a chimney cap. Or get used to them nesting in the chimney.

Squirrels can climb about anything. I have seen them scale very nearly vertical asphalt shingles to get on the roof.

you better believe it. They can climb just about anything. Watch your roof or they will be in your attic next. Then you'll be asking what to do to get them out of your attic.
