new master control was needed- cost $511 ! I purchased one on line for $170 and installed it- It is STILL freezing everything like a cement block. Is there something I need to reset or shut off or turn on? Help! What can I do next?

depends, which part is freezing that hard?if its the refrigerator part then it is probably the door gasket/s.If the gasket/s are/is bad,the compartment wont make temp and will continue running causing stuff in the refrige part to freeze. If its the freezer then turn down your thermostat or replace it if turning it down doesn't work.

Have you turned the thermostat to a higher setting. Some fridges have a control to adjust the air flow from the freezer to the refrigerated side.

where is your owners manual? if you read it, it will explain how to adjust the vents, controls, and settings. if you have it set wrong, ice could have formed in a vent duct and you may have to empty the fridge/freezer and thaw it out to get it working. if you lost your owners manual, check the manufacturers web site for info. good luck, would've tried to give you more info, but you didn't tell us what brand you have.
