On surveys or applications what do you answer if you were divorced (for over 13 years) and now are single? You can never answer both,why?

I would put down divorced. I'm single, but my blow up doll considers us married. Now that causes a few problems.

I haven't been married for years. I check divorced when i complete an application, but I consider myself to be single.

If you are divorced you are single, there's no reason for anyone to ask or know if you are divorced so just put single.

Because although you are now single you were once married. Therefore you have to answer divorced. Single has never been married.

You're supposed to answer divorced. I guess you could answer single if you wanted to, but I'm not too sure if you can do that.
You can't answer both because there is only supposed to be one answer. The point is that you can't be both. It's all about labeling.

I'm twice divorced. Because I'm making child support payments, I click "divorced" on anything like that. Otherwise, I put "single".
