I charge $500 up front, generally.

Making even a simple Will takes time, including no less than three sessions with the client. First is basic information, the second is to review the draft, and finally to execute the final version. There's time in between, of course.

The reason I want payment up front is simple. More often than not, clients that initially want a Will usually decide that they are immortal before the job is finished and don't come back to execute the final product.
